It is only May but the Adidas EVO SL has the potential to already be labeled as the daily trainer of the year.

I have the opportunity to run in many different daily trainers and this EVO SL is just mnagic. The light weight feel, the responsiveness and cushion is unmatched. Here are some of the specs.

Performance & Ride

At approximately 8.1 oz (230g) for a men's US size 9, the Evo SL is impressively light. Its full-length Lightstrike Pro midsole—the same foam used in Adidas' top-tier racing shoes—delivers a responsive and energetic ride. A subtle midfoot shank adds a touch of rigidity, enhancing propulsion during uptempo runs. While it lacks a full-length carbon plate, the shoe still provides a snappy toe-off, making it suitable for tempo runs and daily training.

Fit & Comfort

The Evo SL features a breathable engineered mesh upper with a roomy toe box, accommodating medium to wide feet comfortably. However, the non-gusseted tongue can slide during runs, and the laces may require frequent adjustments.Despite these minor issues, the overall lockdown is secure, and the shoe offers a comfortable fit for various foot shapes.

Traction & Durability

The outsole is equipped with thin Continental rubber, providing decent grip on dry surfaces. However, traction may be less reliable on wet or smooth terrains. The exposed Lightstrike Pro foam is susceptible to scuffs and punctures, especially on rough surfaces, which could affect the shoe's longevity. I have put close to 100 miles so far on the shoe and it i sstill holding shape with no punctures or noticeable tear.

Value & Availability

Priced at around $150, the Evo SL offers excellent value for a shoe featuring premium racing foam. Its versatility makes it suitable for a range of runs, from daily training to tempo workouts. However, due to high demand, availability may be limited at times

Final Verdict

Just go out and purchase this daily trainer, you will not be disappointed. The tongue of the shoe may be the only flaw, but it has not been a real issue for me putting in miles. It does once and a while shift but only when I am lacing up, otherwise i have noticed no issue mid run. If you are looking for that daily trainer that gets you excited in anticipation for the next run, this is it! Dont hesitate and grab a pair when you can.
